November Morning

by Evaleen Stein
A tingling, misty marvel
  Blew hither in the night,
And now the little peach-trees
  Are clasped in frozen light.

Upon the apple-branches
  An icy film is caught,
With trailing threads of gossamer
  In pearly patterns wrought.

The autumn sun, in wonder,
  Is gayly peering through
This silver-tissued network
  Across the frosty blue.

The weather-vane is fire-tipped,
  The honeysuckle shows
A dazzling icy splendor,
  And crystal is the rose.

Around the eaves are fringes
  Of icicles that seem
To mock the summer rainbows
  With many-colored gleam.

Along the walk, the pebbles
  Are each a precious stone;
The grass is tasseled hoarfrost,
  The clover jewel-sown.

Such sparkle, sparkle, sparkle
  Fills all the frosty air,
Oh, can it be that darkness
  Is ever anywhere!

It's Good.

I don't need fortune and I don't need fame, send down the thunder Lord, send down the rain
But when you're planning just how it will be, plan a good day for me.
-Don Williams

I have a sign in the house that teases "Lord I hope this day is good."  My daily reminder that each day brings a new opportunity. It is even more meaningful on a Monday, for obvious reasons.
This was today's sunrise.
A beautiful reminder that the day and week are off to a pretty good start.

May 2010

All the symbolism of Spring.
"Yesterday's failures are Today's seeds,
that must be diligently planted to be able to abundantly harvest
Tomorrow's success."

Peace.

If God gave us dominion over the earth, (a responsibility to look after it) then remind me again, why we are fighting over the number of nuclear bombs we need to destroy it?

I'm confused. If it only takes less than a couple hundred to completely destroy this world God so lovingly created, then...I don't know...reducing our nation's inventory by a third, still gives us more than enough bombs to wipe out the bully on the playground next door. And, BONUS, we WIN, because we will continue to have more than any other country on the planet!

Shouldn't the beauty of every sunrise, remind us that Ronald Reagan was, and President Obama is, right? Even 1 bomb is too many. (You would have also thought a certain ex-beauty queen would have had that "worldy peacey" thing down as well).

Let us put aside our petty bickering on this one thing...and behold... the glory of the world we've been given to watch over.

Peace be with you.

"And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth."  Genesis 1:28
